New Birel Kart Arrives! Nick took possession of a Birel AR-4 kart in early September.
The
new kart is powered by a Yamaha KT100 2 cycle motor capable
of almost 20hp
if left unrestricted! He plans to do a Michael Schumacher F1 scheme
on the kart to go with his new "Shuey" nickname. At the first practice
at the 103rd St track in Jacksonville, FL, he turned an impressive
39.20 lap, which is almost 4 seconds quicker than the old Briggs
kart. We estimated he was running 70mph at the end of the longest
straighaway.
Couldn't wipe the smile off his face for a week!

| Nick Takes First FTD! The new Birel kart was run at it's first SCCA autocross on September
22, 2002 at Jekyll Island, GA, where Nick took the overall FTD (Fast
time of Day), by a whopping 3.3 seconds! He also took FTD PAX honors.

| Nick Takes First FTD AGAIN! Nick took another FTD at the October autocross with the Buccaneer
Region of the SCCA at Whitehouse Field. This time FTD was by
2.5 seconds!
Once again capturing FTD PAX honors too!
